I can't fully summarize what the daily life of this society is like, but I can explain my views on the daily life of this society through my own observation and personal experience.

In a society where culture and technology flourish, everyone is influenced by Goffman's self-presentation, Whyte's physical environment, and culture and technology. I am also one of them.

 

When I'm at home, I'm relaxed and not having to manage my grooming and image, it's my backstage behavior. But I manage my image carefully before going out every day, because I want to leave a good impression on my classmates and others. I will carefully make up, choose clothes and accessories and maintain a confident state before going out, in order to ensure that they are consistent with the image I want to project. This is my front desk behavior and impression management. But my self-expression will also be influenced by the environment and culture. When I am dating, my self-expression is different from that when I am speaking in public, because I need different impression management on different occasions.

 

In this digital age, self-presentation becomes more important, because it can be extended to online platforms, and I carefully plan my image through social media platforms almost every day. I will choose the perfect profile picture and make attractive social media posts, which is my way of self-presentation in the network environment. The rise of social media platforms has not only changed the way we communicate, but also affected the cultural norms around self-expression, privacy and social interaction.

 

When I leave home, the first place I go most often is Anshan Civic Cultural Square, where I can enjoy the cool, take a walk, walk my dog and watch performances. I once met an aunt walking her dog in the square. During the conversation, I learned that her home was not nearby, but she would come to the square for a walk every day, because the square has comfortable seats, water and plenty of sunshine, walkways suitable for pedestrians, public performers and free activities. This is also in line with the requirements of Whyte's successful public space. I will be comfortable, relaxed and full of energy in this square, which will have a positive impact on my quality of life and the overall vitality of the city.

 

When I am at school, I will concentrate more on my study, because our school is an open common learning space, where I can immerse myself in the culture of learning and collaboration. Moreover, the school has high-speed internet, charging station, study room, restaurant, fountain and so on. In school, I will show my professional knowledge in order to establish cooperative relations with other students. There are many international students in the school, so everyone has different cultural backgrounds. I will adjust my communication methods to adapt to the different cultural backgrounds of my classmates, so as to promote effective cooperation.

I use modern technologies such as mobile phones, computers and refrigerators every day. I can't imagine how to live without these modern technologies. It seems that many things in life need to be applied to modern technologies. Modern technologies have brought us too much convenience and made us dependent. The Internet, smart phones, social media platforms and messaging applications that I use every day have completely changed the way people contact and interact on a global scale. I can easily access a lot of knowledge, educational resources and news from all over the world at any time. I can get information more easily through online platforms and search engines, which is of great help to my study and research. Moreover, during the COVID-19 epidemic, schools conducted education through distance teaching. Online courses, e-learning platforms, educational applications and digital tools have expanded educational opportunities beyond the traditional classroom. In a word, modern technology has had a far-reaching impact on society in all aspects, completely changing the way we communicate, work, get information and live.

 

In a word, Goffman's concept of self-presentation, Whyte's influence on the physical environment and the influence of culture and technology on society are all helpful for us to understand the daily life of today's society. Erving Goffman's concept of self-presentation focuses on how individuals show themselves to others and how to manage their public image, that is, impression management. William H. Whyte's works on the influence of physical environment emphasize that public space and buildings affect human behavior and social interaction. Culture is the common belief and values of a society, which affects individuals' understanding of society. Technology has been deeply integrated into daily life, shaping the way we communicate, work and interact with the world.
